classical 43-kilometer hike culminates at Machu Picchu - the
lost city of the Incas. and combines a visit to mysterious
archaeological sites, spectacular mountain scenery and cloud

Day
1: From Cusco –
Take the Train to Kilometer Marker 104 and Hike into Machu Picchu along the Royal Inca Trail
Embark from Cusco on the train to Aguas Caliente and Machu Picchu. At marker number 104 along the train route, disembark from the train and join your naturalist guide for a six hour trek from the train route up into the Andes to join the Royal Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. This trek takes approximately six hours and culmintates on arrival at the Sun Gate to Machu Picchu and entrance to Machu Picchu National Park in the late afternoon. Hikers will overnight at a local hotel and take the tour of Machu Picchu the next morning with the naturalist guide.

Day 2: Tour of Machu Picchu / Return to Cusco
Awaking around 6:00 am, breakfast is served at the hotel and meet with your naturalist guide in the hotel lobby. Take the shuttle up to Machu Picchu and a two to three hour tour of Machu Picchu with our guide in a small group setting. Lucn is included and there may be time to explore Machu Picchu on your own until returning to the train station for the afternoon train back to Ollanta in the Sacred Valley and transfer by car to Cusco and your hotel.
