Ecuador - Tour of the Mindo Cloudforest with an Overnight at the Arasha Resort |
Day 1: Birding in Ecuador
- Departing from Quito in the morning from your hotel
and drive North West of Quito in the direction of MAQUIPUCUNA
- an eco-reserve located in the cloud forest near Mindo.
Take a hike in the forest here with your guide to spot
the wildlife and the vast variety of birds that occupy
this area of Ecuador. After a two hour hike, enjoy lunch
at a countryside style inn. Then continue on, driving
north through the rain forest, arriving for an afternoon
check-in at the resort of Arasha. The resort at Arasha
is considered, one of the most beautiful resort spas
in South America and winner of international awards.

Day 2: There are a variety
of different activities offered in ARASHA such as walks
in the forest, bird watching tours, a workshop at the
chocolate factory, and visits to the nearby waterfalls.
Also included: nocturnal tour of the secondary forest
with torches, birding from the mirador, wild orchid guided
tour to the River Caoni and much more. Here too is the
chocolate factory - an opportunity to learn first hand
how chocolate was discovered and manufactured from the
local Cacao tree and the fruit it bears. There is also
an artisan factory -making earrings, rings, and much
more!
Day 3: Departure with
your guide and driver from Arasha Resort at approximately
11:00 AM and arrive for lunch at a most unique spot in
the cloud forest, Bella Vista -, up in the hills and
surrounded by hundreds of hummingbirds. In the late afternoon,
return to Quito but not before first taking a stop at
the Equator and the Equatorial Monument to visit the
most interesting museum ( INTI NAN ), where you will
learn a lot about the equator and all the facts applicable
to it.
